Vardy Venture Capital is a £50 million fund established by Sir Peter Vardy in June 2006 to assist selected developing companies to achieve their goals.

In order to ensure that the company directs its attention to the proposals that are most likely to be of key interest the following criteria have been arrived at to concentrate effort on the most relevant proposals.

If a company falls outside of one or other of the guideline parameters that are set out here we would still look at proposals that we consider may be of special interest.

1. INVESTMENT REQUIRED - £500,000 to £2,000,000: We are looking to make reasonable sized investments to ensure that we can justify the one off costs involved in making the investment and the management time we would need to spend to add value and give guidance where we can. We have set an upper limit to our exposure to each individual investment and to ensure the resultant portfolio is a reasonable mix for us.
2. TRADING HISTORY - Over one year: Ideally we would like to have a trading history to analyse to establish how a product or service has performed to date to give us an understanding of its potential. Start ups are notoriously more difficult to assess and it is more likely that we will select potential investments from those presented to us that have an established foothold on their chosen market place.
3. BUSINESS SECTOR: We are more likely to consider proposals that sit within or are related to our own knowledge base, we can add more value to a project where we have a detailed knowledge of the fundamentals of that type of business.; We consider ourselves experts in the retail sector, property and education however we also have relevant experience in a number of other sectors that would allow us to invest outside of this core base.; As an ethically based investor we would not invest in companies that we felt were in conflict with our basic principles.
4. LOCATION: We are a North East based fund and whilst not excluding investments from other areas we will concentrate our investments in businesses that are in our region.
5. OUR RETURN: We are committed to making a market return on the investments we make and looking for a strategy that will give us a clear exit route in the short to medium term to allow us to reinvest in future opportunities.

We are hoping to partner companies that will derive benefit from our involvement and would look to balance our reward accordingly.

We are looking for equity participation in the companies in which we invest but will always endeavour to ensure that the entrepreneur team at the helm remains in overall control of the value of the company in order that they remain committed and driven to ensure the business thrives for our mutual benefit.
